What better way to launch our Year of Jewish Joy than with the most joyous Jewish holiday of them all, Sukkot, known in our prayerbook as literally z’man simchateinu, the time of our joy?!

On Yom Kippur morning, I kicked off our Year of Jewish Joy by introducing its 3 components: Study Joy, Share Joy, and Show Up. We have our first collective “Study Joy” opportunity coming up on Tuesday night, when we’ll study just why Sukkot is so joyous – join us on Zoom! Share Joy: we want to celebrate with you and share your joys – but we can only do that as a community if you let us know!

When you have a joy you yearn to share, email August at info@templeshalom.ca with the subject line JOY (and you can CC me too – rabbi@templeshalom.ca!). Let us know about new babies in your family, engagements and weddings, professional accomplishments, academic achievements – if it’s joyful to you, we want to know! When appropriate, we’ll include an announcement in the weekly newsletter or offer you and your family a blessing on the bimah at an upcoming Shabbat service. Of course, if you’d like to sponsor an oneg in celebration of your joy, that’s always an excellent option! Click here to sign up!

Looking forward to a year full of joys. Moadim l’simcha!
